Channel groups are the foundation of your reporting and analysis inside of GA4. They help you understand where your traffic is coming from, which marketing channels are effective, and where you should invest your resources. 📈
However, GA4's default settings might not be sufficient for your specific needs.
The first step is to understand how your traffic is being assigned to each channel group. Navigating to the traffic acquisition reports and adding a secondary dimension for "source / medium" can be helpful to map out your current setup.
After you review that report, you may start to see source / medium traffic that you may want to include in a different channel or you may want to create a brand new channel that Google doesn't offer out of the box.
To edit these channels, you will need to go to the admin area of GA4 and then navigate to "Data Settings" and then "Channel Groups".
