Greetings. I'm Tim of Govberg and welcome to the world of Hublot. Today I'll be your guide to the proper usage, care, and maintenance of your Hublot Big Bang One-click Pop Art Steel Orange 38 millimeters in stainless steel. It's important to note that this automatic winding timepiece can nevertheless be manually wound should it rundown by taking the crown in its first position flush to the case and turning it ten to 20 turns in a clockwise direction. Now you'll note that the watch's seconds hand will begin to advance. At that point you can put the watch on the wrist and the winding rotor will combine with the natural course of kinetic action to energize the mainspring. Should you wish to wind the watch up to its rated power reserve of 50 hours, simply continue turning the crown. Due to the bridal style mainspring any excess tension will simply be relieved. You cannot accidentally over-wind this timepiece by manual means.
Now it's also important to note that once the watch has been wound, a number of refinements can be used to precisely set both the time and date. By pulling the crown to its outermost position, you hack the watch, or stop the seconds. Now the balance is halted on the case back, it's arrested and allows precise setting of the time to the nearest second. This is easiest to do by stopping the seconds hand at the index at 12, advancing to the nearest minute, and then waiting for the reference time that you use such as an atomic clock to catch up. Now at that point you push the crown back in, but remember that you set the watch by turning the crown in this outermost position. Returning the crown, you un-hack the balance, and you resume time keeping. Now in the second position you'll note that the watch features a bidirectional quick set date, so whether you want to advance the date forward or backwards to reach the nearest correct date, should the watch rundown or encounter an irregular length month, turn the crown in either position in its second station, out from flush, but before hacking seconds. Turn it clockwise or counterclockwise to reverse or advance the date.
Now, of course, this should never be accessed. This quick set function should never be used during the hours from 8pm to 3am, as that's the period during which the automatic date jumper of the watch is engaged. Attempting to use the manual quick set while the automatic system is jumping over from day to day can damage the movement, so always forgo use of the quick set between the hours of 8pm and 3am. Now the watch features the name one-click for a reason, and that's because it features a unique one-click car seat belt buckle style release for the strap. Now the pusher is built into the lug and just like a car seat belt buckle, when you depress it, you release the strap and just as easily you snap the strap back into place and the click lets you know that it's secure. It's important to note the watch features two accessory straps, in addition to this one. You also detach the clasp by pulling this tab on its underside to remove the clasp and fit it to the next accessory strap.
With respect to hazards to your watch, there are three principle ones, but the largest is undoubtedly, water. It's important to note before we get too deep into water resistance that no leather is ever water resistant. As it is a porous natural material, be sure to put the watch on a textile or full rubber strap before exposure to water as moisture will rapidly degrade this natural material. Now it's also important to note that with respect to water resistance that this watch is rated to 100 meters, which Hublot designates as sufficient for swimming, shallow scuba diving, and snorkeling, everything short of professional diving.
Moreover, it's important to note around water that water resistance is not a static feature of a timepiece. Over time seals will dry, lubricants will degrade, and water resistance will ebb. Hublot advises at least every 24 months having the watch water tested to its rated depth at an Hublot authorized service center, such as an independent retailer of Hublot, or a factory boutique. Now it's also important to note that once water resistance has been checked, you also have to take care to avoid shock and magnetism.
Finally, magnetism. When magnetized the watch will keep erratic time. It may run fast, it may run slow. By taking it to an authorized Hublot retailer, you can have it quickly and easily demagnetized on specialized equipment. Finally, with respect to comprehensive mechanical service, Hublot advises a comprehensive overhaul every three to five years. The best time to have the overall condition of your watch checked for water resistance, cosmetic condition, and precision is when you bring it in for a water check every 24 months.
