The Most Powerful Freqtrade DCA Bot Strategy
Start Here: Build a Fully Automated Crypto Trading System with Freqtrade
In this video, I show you how an Freqtrade DCA bot uses an RSI strategy to profit from market pullbacks. You’ll learn exactly how the F trade DCA bot with RSI strategy works step by step, including how it buys more as the price drops to lower the average entry price, allowing trades to close in profit even on a small rebound.
This strategy starts when the RSI drops below 30, triggering an initial long position with a 100 USDT base order size. The take-profit target is set to 5%, meaning the trade closes when the price moves 5% above the average entry price. If the price drops another 2%, the bot places a 200 USDT safety order. If the price drops further, for example another 4%, the bot adds 400 USDT, continuously adjusting the average entry price and moving the take-profit level closer to the market.
This RSI-based DCA trading strategy focuses on scaling into positions during pullbacks instead of trying to catch the perfect bottom. As long as the market rebounds slightly, the trade can exit at the predefined take profit percentage.
You’ll see how this strategy behaves on the chart using the Freqtrade UI. When the RSI threshold is reached, the bot enters a trade, places safety orders as the price moves lower, and exits automatically once the price hits the take profit level. Some trades close immediately without safety orders, while others trigger multiple safety orders before exiting in profit.
Next, we move into strategy optimization using Freqtrade, an open-source trading bot. This video uses a 30-minute time frame and splits historical data into in-sample data (3 years) for optimization and out-of-sample data (1 year) for unbiased backtesting under real market conditions.
