In this video, Iāll show you step by step how to create variable products in WooCommerce the way real eCommerce stores do it. Imagine youāre selling bottles in different colors and sizes, or a T-shirt that comes in multiple fits.
When I first started with WooCommerce, I noticed most tutorials skipped the small but critical details. Things like setting proper SKUs, managing stock, or entering the right weights and dimensions for shipping. Those are the areas where problems usually pop up. If you donāt configure your variations correctly, you can easily end up with missing products at checkout, shipping out the wrong item, or worse, losing your customerās trust because the store feels unreliable.
š Follow these simple steps to add a variable product in WordPress
Step 1: Create an Attribute
Go to your WordPress dashboard and click on Attributes.
Enter a name for your attribute, then click Add Attribute.
Once created, click on it and add the items (like size, color, etc.).
Step 2: Add Attribute to Your Product
Click New ā Product and enter your product name.
Change the setting to Variable Product, then open the Attributes tab.
Select your attribute, click Add, choose the items, and enable Used for Variations.
Click Save Attributes.
Step 3: Create Variations
Go to the Variations tab.
From the dropdown, select Create Variations from All Attributes.
Step 4: Set Prices for Variations
Still in the Variations tab, open the dropdown and select Set Regular Prices.
Enter your product price and click OK.
To customize each variation with a unique price or image, choose the variation and edit it individually.
Extra Options:
To add another set of variations, create a new attribute and repeat the process.
To remove all variations, select Delete All Variations from the dropdown.
To display variations as buttons instead of dropdowns, adjust your display settings.
ā
And thatās it ā your variable product is ready to go live on your eCommerce website!
